260 kg glass panels. A live roof environment. Zero margin for error.
GMI Scaffolds Ltd has recently completed specialist access works at Cambridge Science Park, delivering a bespoke scaffold solution to support complex glazing operations for Sky Access UK Ltd – High Level Glazing Specialists — our first project working together.
The scaffold was engineered to facilitate:
- Safe removal of old, damaged glazing
- Installation of new glass panels weighing approximately 260 kg, handled via NIKO rail lifting systems
- Secure access to roof ladders and stairways, enabling materials to be transported on and off the roof efficiently
- Controlled working platforms within a congested rooftop services environment
Heavy glazing at height requires more than standard access. It demands careful sequencing, structural planning, and close coordination to ensure safety while maintaining progress on a live site.
We’re pleased to have supported Sky Access UK Ltd – High Level Glazing Specialists in delivering this operation safely and efficiently, and we look forward to future collaboration.
